Summary
- No account. Quipster has no sign-up, login or user profile.
- No uploads. Your photos, drafts and finished memes are processed on your iPhone and are never sent to us.
- No analytics. We don’t add analytics or tracking tools of our own to the app or this website.
- Ads in the free version come from Google AdMob. Google may collect device and usage data to show and measure ads, according to the choices you make in Google’s consent form and Apple’s tracking prompt.
- Purchases are handled entirely by Apple. We never see your payment details.
- Support messages you send us are emailed to the developer and kept only as long as needed to help you.
Who we are
Quipster is made by Cyburdine Systems (“we”, “us”). This policy covers the Quipster iPhone app and the website at quipster.app. If you have a question about it, use the contact form.
What stays on your device
Everything you make in Quipster is made on your iPhone:
- Pictures you bring in, whether pasted, picked from Photos, taken with the camera or opened from Files, are only read on your device to build your meme.
- Pasting. Quipster only reads your clipboard when you choose to paste. iOS may show a notice when that happens.
- Picking photos uses Apple’s photo picker, which hands Quipster only the pictures you choose. Quipster cannot browse your photo library.
- Sticker from photo (lifting a subject out of a picture), effects, blur and redaction use Apple’s on-device frameworks. Nothing is sent to a server to do this.
- Drafts are saved automatically inside Quipster’s private storage on your iPhone. They are not synced to iCloud by Quipster, but they are included in your iPhone’s own backup if you use iCloud Backup or back up to a computer.
- Settings, such as your default export format, and whether you own Pro are stored on your device.
When you share or save a meme, it goes where you send it: your photo library, Messages, Instagram or any other app you pick. What happens next is governed by that app’s privacy policy.
Permissions, and why each is needed
| Permission | Why Quipster asks |
|---|---|
| Add to Photos | To save finished memes to your photo library when you tap Save. This is add-only: Quipster cannot read your library with it. |
| Camera | To take a photo to turn into a meme, only when you choose the camera. |
| Tracking (App Tracking Transparency) | Asked in the free version so Google’s ads can use your device’s advertising identifier. Saying no is fine: you still get ads, just less personalised ones. |
You can change any of these at any time in your iPhone’s Settings app under Quipster, or under Privacy & Security.
Advertising (Google AdMob)
The free version of Quipster shows ads from Google AdMob, a service of Google LLC. Ads are how Quipster stays free. If you buy Quipster Pro, Quipster stops requesting ads.
What Google may collect
To serve, measure and protect ads, the Google Mobile Ads SDK built into Quipster may collect:
- your IP address and the approximate location derived from it;
- device information, such as model, operating system version, language and screen size;
- app information, such as the version of Quipster;
- ad interactions, such as which ads were shown and tapped;
- diagnostic data about ad performance and crashes in the ads SDK;
- your device’s advertising identifier (IDFA), only if you allow tracking in Apple’s prompt.
Google acts as an independent controller of this data under its own policies. Quipster does not send Google your photos, your memes, your drafts, or anything you type.
Your consent choices
- Google’s consent form. In the European Economic Area, the UK, Switzerland and other places where the law requires it, Quipster shows Google’s consent form (the User Messaging Platform) before personalised ads are used. You can change your answer at any time in More > Settings > Ad Privacy Choices.
- Apple’s tracking prompt. Quipster asks once whether it may let Google use your advertising identifier. You can change this later in Settings > Privacy & Security > Tracking.
- If you decline, Google may still show non-personalised or limited ads, which rely on context rather than your activity in other apps.
- Ad attribution may use Apple’s SKAdNetwork, which reports installs to ad networks in an aggregated, privacy-preserving way.

Purchases (Quipster Pro)
Quipster Pro is sold through Apple’s App Store using StoreKit. Apple processes the payment and handles your billing details, refunds and Family Sharing. We never receive your name, Apple Account, card number or address. Quipster only checks with StoreKit, on your device, whether you are entitled to Pro. Apple’s handling of your purchase is covered by the Apple Privacy Policy.
From App Store Connect, Apple gives us aggregated sales and download reports. These don’t identify you.
Crash reports
Quipster has no crash-reporting or analytics SDK of its own. If you have turned on Share With App Developers in Settings > Privacy & Security > Analytics & Improvements, Apple may share anonymous crash reports and usage statistics with us. You can turn that off at any time.
The support form
When you use the contact form, we receive what you type: your email address, your message, and optionally your name and device details. Our server also records the time, the page you sent it from, your IP address and your browser’s user agent, to fight spam and abuse.
- The message is emailed to the developer and a copy is kept on our server in case the email fails to arrive.
- We use it only to answer you and to improve Quipster. We don’t add you to a mailing list and we don’t share it with anyone.
- We keep it only as long as needed to help you and keep a record of the conversation, then delete it. Ask us at any time and we’ll delete it sooner.
This website
quipster.app sets no cookies, runs no analytics, and loads nothing from third parties: its fonts and images are served from our own server. Like any web server, it keeps standard access logs (IP address, time, page requested, referring page and browser user agent) to keep the site running and secure, and these are deleted by routine log rotation. The site is delivered through Cloudflare, which processes that traffic on the way to our server under the Cloudflare Privacy Policy.
Who we share data with
We don’t sell your personal information, and we hold almost none. Data reaches third parties only as described above: Google for ads in the free version, Apple for purchases and opt-in crash reports, and Cloudflare for delivering this website. We may disclose information if the law requires it, for example in response to a valid court order.
Children
Quipster is a general-audience app and is not directed at children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age where you live). We don’t knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has sent us personal information through the support form, contact us and we will delete it.
Your choices and rights
Depending on where you live, including the EU, the UK and US states such as California, you may have the right to access, correct, delete or obtain a copy of your personal information, to object to or restrict its use, and to opt out of targeted advertising.
- Your photos, drafts and memes are on your device, so you can view or delete them at any time. Deleting Quipster removes all of its drafts and settings.
- For support messages, contact us and we’ll respond within 30 days.
- For ad data, use Quipster’s Ad Privacy Choices, Apple’s tracking setting, or Google’s tools linked above. Declining tracking is how you opt out of personalised ads in Quipster.
- Where we rely on consent, you may withdraw it at any time. You also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.
Security and international transfers
Because your content stays on your device, it is protected by your iPhone’s own security. Support messages travel over encrypted connections and are stored on a server we administer. Google, Apple and Cloudflare may process data in the United States and other countries, under the safeguards described in their own policies.
Changes to this policy
If we change how Quipster handles data, we’ll update this page and its effective date before the change takes effect. Significant changes will also be mentioned in the app’s release notes.
